It has been said that the only thing that is able to transcend the barriers of time and space is Love. For us at the DUKKS Foundation today is a bitter-sweet day. It’s on this date that we lost our beloved Daniel. While it isn’t easy to be reminded of the tragic events that took place on this date, we find comfort in the fact that today is a day to celebrate Daniel and what he meant to all of us and the legacy he left behind.
Today while we reflect on Daniel’s life and passing we have resolved to continually commemorate him by carrying on with the objectives that the DUKKS Foundation set out. That is to help other NGOs lower their running costs so that they are able to continue with the good work they have set out to do. While we have already met some of our objectives in the projects we’ve been involved with, we are still a long way off from completing this mission.
I was privy to a speech that one of our co-chairs, Joerg Schilling, gave at the inauguration of the DUKKS Foundation. He reminded us and those present that it indeed is more blessed to give than to receive. While we at the foundation shared a love with and for Daniel it is this love that we choose to share with those who are less fortunate. A friend recently reminded me that love expressed financially is known as charity.
Please do consider giving as we continue to plan for future projects.
